In May of 2019, I got the chance to do the branding for AIGA Austin's annual bowling event, for the second year in a row. The theme this time was "Flannel Bowl: Where Grunge Hits the Lanes". The previous year's theme was "Get Down, Get Funky". As usual, when working with AIGA Austin, Judy Schulz + OK Paper, I had an absolute blast. The main typeface — "Chalk Duster" — used here was taken from one of the collections of public domain type books I collect; I then customize it, to make it look more organic, and paired it with a typeface called "Knockout"; mostly because I like type jokes.

 

Along with the branding, I also put together the design for the "free drink" cards that came in the captain's packet, and some of the social media graphics. Judy chose a really awesome, water-proof paper to print the drink cards on — which was really smart, and made them easier to handle. Any other collateral shown below was put together by Judy Schulz or her team at OK Paper. I really loved the way everything turned out, and am definitely going to cross my fingers in the hope that they will ask me to do it again for 2020!

As in 2018, the Pixel Shredders came ready to play — a group of my friends that also attended the Art Institute of Austin. This was the second year we put a team together; and I have to say, we did pretty well! Cameron Miller did the design for this year's t-shirts, and Chad Muzzarelli printed them for us. We're already in training for next year, so look out!
